ECOT - Intern
COMMUNICATIONS INTERN: SUMMARY
The role is an unpaid internship, used for college credit, work experience, and networking objectives. The job is designed for college students who meet requirements to provide a variety of functions to ECOT’s communications department. Intern will work closely with the Communications Specialist in assignments, goals, and education about the field of corporate communications.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Interns will focus on the following projects:
· Marketing
· Public Relations
· Communications
· Media Relations
· Other office duties

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The individual must pass a pre-employment criminal background check and drug screen. Solid writing skills are a must. This includes a firm grasp of spelling and grammar. Must also be familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel. Must be detail-oriented and able to meet deadlines.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university. Educational focuses should be communications, journalism, public relations, advertising, or related field.
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS
Proven ability to effectively relate to people with a variety of educational backgrounds and communication skills.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
